Emily Collins joined the Ward Black Law team in 2020 and currently serves as a Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal.  In her role, Emily helps draft and file pleadings, motions, and other court documents, answers discovery, and handles correspondence with clients.  She also requests medical records, gathers expert opinions, and schedules mediations among many other responsibilities.

Prior to her full-time role at the firm, Emily provided administrative and legal assistance for Ward Black Law intermittently throughout high school and college.  After graduating from college, she officially became a Ward Black Law teammate. She explains the work culture as a family atmosphere.  She says she enjoys “working in an understanding, supportive, humane environment where I feel that I am heard and am cared about.  My opinion matters here.  I am pushed to be my best and to meet goals while also having leadership that understands when things get tough.”  She also really loves the fun firm events.

Emily was born in Cheraw, SC but moved to Greensboro when she was very young.  She attended UNCW in Wilmington, NC for a year before transferring back to UNCG to finish out her degree.  She worked as a recruiter for a year and a half before coming back to Ward Black Law.  Her favorite food as a child was mashed potatoes made by her mammaw who used to watch her every day after school.  She has since upgraded her food choice to bacon cheese fries with ranch.  Throw in a Mexican or Spanish flare and add a little spice and she is in heaven.

Emily is driven by accountability, always doing the right thing, feeling accomplished, and tackling challenges as a team.  She enjoys spending her free time traveling, cooking, dining out, attending family gatherings, and hanging out with her best friend, Hannah.  She also loves podcasts such as The Ben Shapiro Show, The Joe Rogan Experience, and Cancelled.
