North Carolina Top 50 Women Super Lawyers Gathering

On Thursday, May 30, the Top 50 Women Lawyers in North Carolina named by SuperLawyers magazine were invited to a celebration of their recognition by Legal Aid of North Carolina.

This year’s event was held at First Citizens Bank in Greensboro, co-sponsored by Ward Black Law, GlaxoSmithKline and Duke Energy. Janet Ward Black of Ward Black Law, one of the Top 50 Women SuperLawyers, welcomed the attendees from across the state. “It’s such an honor to be with you to celebrate this year’s list and to meet other women attorneys who are making an impact on the legal community by their work.”

Black was recognized by George Hausen, Executive Director of Legal Aid of NC, for her support of Legal Aid. She was given an art glass vase inscribed, “Janet Ward Black, Super Lawyer, Philanthropist, “Good ‘Ole Girl”, and visionary.”

Being named to the elite list of attorneys by North Carolina SuperLawyers is a privilege itself. Selection to North Carolina Super Lawyers is based first on input from lawyers across the state. Each candidate is evaluated for twelve indicators of “peer recognition and professional achievement,” such as experience, awards and recognitions and their client list. Finally, a panel of respected and experienced legal peers evaluates the candidates within their own area of expertise.
