Lauryn Babcock is an attorney at Ward Black Law in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she helps clients navigate some of the most difficult and uncertain seasons of their lives. She approaches her work with care, intention, and a strong belief that every client deserves to be seen as a person, not just a case. For Lauryn, advocacy means taking the time to understand what clients are facing, supporting them through a difficult process, and helping them move forward with clarity and confidence.
Lauryn grew up in a family rooted in service. Her stepfather served in the Marines, her mother and grandmother were teachers, and her nana was a social worker. From an early age, she saw the impact people can have when they dedicate their work to helping others and strengthening their communities. She considered several service-focused paths, but ultimately chose the law because it allowed her to make a tangible difference in people’s lives while using her strengths in writing, reasoning, and advocacy. Becoming an attorney also gave Lauryn the opportunity to become the first lawyer in her family, continuing that tradition of service in a way that felt uniquely her own.
Her desire to practice law was also shaped by her time at Governor’s School in Winston-Salem between her junior and senior years of high school. There, she was exposed to the realities of the justice system and the effect it can have on underserved communities. That experience opened her eyes to the inequities people can face and motivated her to become part of the system so she could help improve it and advocate for people whose voices might otherwise go unheard.
Lauryn’s ability to connect with injured clients comes from both personal and practical experience. During her last semester of law school, an unexpected shoulder surgery disrupted her daily life and gave her a firsthand understanding of what it can feel like to have routines interrupted, navigate medical treatment, and live with pain after a procedure. As the oldest of six siblings, she has also spent much of her life stepping in, helping solve problems, and advocating for the people closest to her. Those experiences shape the way she supports both injured clients and the families who are often walking through those challenges with them.
Lauryn first joined Ward Black Law as an intern in December 2023 and returned as an attorney in September 2025. A military child, she grew up in California, North Carolina, Minnesota, and Okinawa, Japan. Outside the office, Lauryn enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, attending sporting events, cheering for the Panthers, UNC, South Carolina, and the Braves, writing creatively, taking long walks, and catching up with friends over a good latte.
