Reports of serious complications associated with the Zimmer® M/L Taper Prosthesis with Kinectiv® Technology and the Zimmer® Durom Cup, have led many victims of hip implant failure to pursue legal action against Zimmer, Inc.

Not only have the injured parties in these claims dealt with extreme pain and suffering, but, in some cases, they have also been required to undergo complicated, costly revision surgeries.

Zimmer® M/L Taper Prosthesis with Kinectiv® Technology

The Zimmer® M/L Taper Prosthesis with Kinectiv® Technology uses a system of modular stem and neck components to help surgeons address and individually customize each hip replacement for the unique anatomical needs of each patient. This custom-fit design was intended to enhance joint movement and optimize joint stability.

However, the Zimmer® M/L Taper Prosthesis utilizes a variety of metal-on-metal components. As with many other metal-on-metal hip implants, severe pain and side effects such as corrosion, metallosis, hip dislocation, loosening on the hip joint and bone fractures have been reported.

Zimmer® Durom Acetabular Component (Durom Cup)

In July 2008, production of the Durom Cup component of Zimmer® hip replacements was voluntarily recalled due to an above-average spike in medical complications, necessary revision surgeries and premature device failure. This all-metal component of the hip implant also led to serious side effects, such as metallosis, tissue inflammation and bone loss in the hip region.
