Carolina Field of Honor

Ward Black Law is a proud financial supporter of the Carolina Field of Honor project. This long-anticipated memorial to members of our Armed Services, and the park it will be housed in, has been more than 30 years in the making. Now that ground has been broken for construction, the attorneys and staff at WBL are excited to see this dream realized with so many in our community.

Afi Johnson-Parris, attorney at Ward Black Law, is a founding Board member for the Carolina Field of Honor, and continues to serve with the other Board members as the project moves forward. Afi is a U.S. Air Force veteran, and leads Ward Black Law’s Veterans Disability practice area. Like so many of you, the staff and lawyers at our firm, have strong ties to those serving in the military and our veterans.

Attorney Gerard Davidson served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAGC). Bryan Krueger, a Family Law and Veterans Disability Paralegal at WBL, served as a U.S. Army JAG NCO, and was deployed in Iraq. Dan Dutilly, Project Manager for WBL’s Veterans Disability practice area, is a third-generation U.S. Army combat veteran, serving as an Officer in Kuwait and Baghdad deployments. Janet Ward Black’s brother retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army, having served as a hospital administrator for the Army’s many field hospitals, including the 93rd Evacuation Hospital in Long Binh, Vietnam in 1969-1970. In fact, nearly every member of the WBL team has served, has a spouse that has served, or has some immediate family member that has sacrificed on behalf of freedom here and abroad.

WBL’s active support of the Carolina Field of Honor is one of many tangible ways that our firm’s commitment to service and outreach moves us beyond the courtroom and into our local community. Our outreach efforts are simply an extension of who we are, and what we hold dear.

The Carolina Field of Honor will be installed at Triad Park, in the heart of our extended community. It will honor each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, and will be one of the largest memorials in all of North Carolina. Ward Black Law is proud to stand with all the supporters of this initiative that will both raise awareness about the cost of service and sacrifice, and also honor so many family members and neighbors.
