Nichad Davis is an attorney supporting the firm in the areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation. Nichad worked at the law firm of Hedrick Gardner in Charlotte prior to joining Ward Black Law in December 2020.
Nichad began his undergraduate studies at UNC-Charlotte, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Clinical/Community Health. During his senior year, Nichad studied abroad in South Africa, where he studied the impact of poverty on cognitive development. It was this experience in South Africa that led Nichad to apply to the Teach for America program upon his graduation from UNC-Charlotte. Nichad served as a 7th grade social studies teacher in Duplin County, North Carolina with Teach for America for 3 years. It was during this time Nichad developed a heart for advocating for people. His time in Teach for America created a desire for Nichad to attend law school and become an attorney.
Nichad was awarded the Janette Soles Nelson Public Service Scholarship to attend the Campbell University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor. Nichad was a very active member of the Mock Trial team and competed in national competitions including the National Civil Trial Competition (NCTC) and the South Texas Mock Trial Challenge. His mock trial experience earned him several awards, including the National Black Lawyers Association (NBLSA) Best Advocate Award.
A native of Greensboro, NC, Nichad attended Dudley High School where he was a student athlete. Nichad comes from a large family and he was excited to return home and live near family again.
Nichad has continued his public service locally through a non-profit he founded, Davis Academy, where he provides needs based scholarships to local students. He also serves as a mentor to students at North Carolina A&T University
Nichad enjoys cooking, playing chess, and spending time with his fiancée, Dee and their daughter, Nova.
