Posted By: hannah

Manisha P. Patel, an attorney with Ward Black Law, has been named Educational Committee Co-Chair At-Large of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys (NCAWA) 2016 Board of Directors. She received this designation in October 2015 at the 37th Annual NCAWA Conference in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.

Patel joined the NCAWA as a law student in 2008 and has served on the board of the Piedmont Triad Women Attorneys chapter of NCAWA since early 2015. A graduate of Elon University School of Law, she represents clients in divorce and family law cases.

“I was drawn to family law early-on and became dedicated to offering compassionate legal support during emotionally stressful transitions,” she said. “The NCAWA has helped equip me to make a difference in the profession and in our community, and I hope to expand those opportunities for other women in the legal field.”

The NCAWA believes a strong community of women lawyers is essential to the administration of justice. Since 1978, the organization has increased the effective participation of women in the justice system, in public office, and within the legal profession, to promote the rights of women under the law, as well as to promote the welfare of women attorneys in North Carolina.

Manisha further explained her new role, “I will assist in planning and executing the Annual Conference in 2016 which focuses on professionalism, ethics, and networking among other things. It is my job to foster continuing legal education opportunities for women lawyers, not only in the Triad, but throughout the state.”
