Ward Black Law Collects for Tools for Schools
During the month of August, Ward Black Law collected school supplies for Channel 2's Tools for School campaign. Not only did they promote the program and serve as a collection site, they donated supplies and money to the effort throughout the month.
The staff adopted two schools to try to meet as many of their requested needs as possible - Vandalia and Montlieu Elementary schools. Because these two schools are considered high risk schools, their needs are particularly numerous. In the average school, a teacher spends about $500 per year of her own money on just the necessary items just to conduct class. Ward Black Law was able to collect and purchase a van load of supplies for each school!
Additionally with the help on DMJ (Davenport, Marvin and Joyce, CPAs), who joined with us by placing several boxes in their building, we were able to deliver several large boxes of school supplies to the Teachers Supply Wearhouse in Guilford County. Teachers from all over the county are able to come to this site and pick up supplies for their classrooms at no charge. See the link below for Channel 2's story about this resource and hear what Janet Ward has to say.
