Janet Ward Black Named to NC Super Lawyers 2011 for Personal Injury Litigation

Janet Ward Black has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the 2011 edition of North Carolina Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters Service.  She was selected for recognition in the specialty area of Personal Injury Litigation and in NC Top 50 Women Attorneys.  This is Black’s sixth consecutive year being named in the publication.

Selection to North Carolina Super Lawyers is based first on input from across the state.  Reuters then performs their own research to make sure that the no outstanding attorneys have been overlooked in the peer process.  Each candidate is evaluated by twelve indicators of “peer recognition and professional achievement,”* such as experience, awards and recognitions and their client list.  Finally, a panel of respected and experienced peers evaluates the candidates within their own area of expertise.  This process hones down the list to the top 5 percent of the state’s attorneys based on firm size and practice area.

Inclusion on this list is a distinguished honor since an attorney cannot nominate themselves nor pay to be included.  Super Lawyers is one of several peer designations given annually as an “indicator or peer recognition and professional achievement.”*
