Black Speaks Before the Inaugural Class of at the NCBA Leadership Academy

Janet Ward Black was in good company Saturday, March 5, at the Leadership Academy sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association in conjunction with the Center for Creative Leadership, an internationally-known leadership training company headquartered in Greensboro.  Black and Chief Justice Sarah Parker of the North Carolina Supreme Court were the featured speakers at the opening program of the inaugural class of the 2011.  Workshops and various programs continued after the luncheon and through the next afternoon.

Members of the NC Bar Association were on hand throughout the weekend to conduct the workshops and lead discussions.  Other than Janet Ward Black, Norfleet Pruden, NCBA Past President, Eugene Pridgen, current NCBA President and Martin Brinkley, NCBA President Elect were among the many attorneys who were there.

This new program established as a result of the NCBA’s Young Lawyers Initiatives with the mission “to help young lawyers become effective leaders in their communities”, where ever they may be called upon to assist or lead on professional, civic and personal levels, locally, nationally or internationally.  The program will accept approximately 15 lawyers each year.  This year’s class was made up of sixteen attorneys from an applicant pool of 79 lawyers.
